The hidden risk in consumer goods supply chains

Most consumer goods companies can measure supplier emissions. Almost none can see process heat. It is the largest addressable source of Cat.1 emissions, and spend-based reporting cannot distinguish it.

THE PROBLEM

The footprint sits where data can't see it

Before a product reaches a shelf, ingredients are pasteurized, sterilized, dried, and preserved, almost all of it on fossil fuels.

Two suppliers with identical spend can differ by an order of magnitude, and spend-based data cannot tell them apart. For most consumer goods brands, Scope 3 makes up roughly 90% of the total footprint, and process heat sits at the center of it.

~18%
of global GHG emissions come from industrial process heat.
26x
larger: supply chain Scope 3 emissions versus Scope 1 and 2.
84%
of supplier direct emissions from fossil fuel combustion.

Clean heat stalls at financing, not feasibility.

The technology works. Industrial heat pumps cover everything up to 200°C, including pre-treatment, cleaning and paint shop heating. Electric boilers reach 400°C.

What stops projects is rarely the equipment. It is that suppliers lack the finance or the internal expertise, buyers cannot fund thousands of sites, and banks will not fund uncertainty.

Where the heat actually sits

Consumer goods manufacturing runs from 55°C cleaning to 280°C packaging curing. See which processes clean heat can already serve.

What supplier data actually shows

Across 863 consumer goods facilities, Scope 1 runs almost entirely on gas. See where the concentration creates risk.

Intro to the Clean Heat Program

Learn how the program delivers a clear path from data to decision to delivery, ensuring projects are planned and funded.

Where decision pressure is emerging first

See which areas of emissions, energy, and supplier risk are being scrutinized earliest as data becomes more visible, and why some decisions are questioned sooner than others.

The gap between ambition and supplier capability

Based on data from 8,000+ supplier facilities, uncover where ambition is accelerating faster than supplier readiness and how that gap is turning into financial, reputational, and governance risk.

What makes some decisions hold up and others fall apart

Learn how organizations that can clearly explain and justify prioritization are navigating scrutiny and why data quality, comparability, and completeness now matter more than commitments alone.
